Lamborghini’s New Supercar Is Ready for Racing: The Temerario GT3

Lamborghini’s lineup has always been synonymous with high-performance supercars, and the brand is now expanding into racing with the Temerario GT3. The new race car, based on Lamborghini's latest road model, brings a host of upgrades, ditching the hybrid system and instead focusing on performance, durability, and repairability for track days.

Performance Meets Efficiency

The Temerario GT3 ditches the hybrid system, as required by racing regulations, but still delivers a thrilling performance. Under the hood, it features a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine, producing 550 horsepower, a significant drop from the road car’s 800 horsepower. Despite the decrease in power, the GT3 offers improved driving dynamics and track performance.

Lamborghini has redesigned several key engine components, including the airbox, which now accommodates the smaller turbochargers, along with titanium connecting rods. The engine’s new calibration enhances power delivery, giving the car a broader power range across the revs for smoother and more consistent performance.

Race-Ready Design

The Temerario GT3 is designed to be a formidable contender on the track, with a range of race-oriented upgrades. Lamborghini modified the aluminum spaceframe chassis, making it lighter and tougher for racing conditions. The rear chassis is engineered to fit the six-speed transverse gearbox, further enhancing the car’s handling and responsiveness.

Lamborghini also integrated carbon composite bodywork that enhances both aerodynamics and cooling systems. This new design includes improvements to the brakes, radiators, and turbochargers, ensuring the car stays efficient even during long, intense races. The body panels are constructed as single pieces at both the front and rear, while the floor is divided into four parts for easier repair and replacement during pit stops.

Designed for Quick Pit Stops

Repairability is a key focus for Lamborghini in the Temerario GT3. Mechanics can quickly replace various body panels, suspension parts, and other components in the pits, ensuring minimal downtime during races. The car comes with a fully integrated roll cage, improved fuel flow, and six-way KW dampers for enhanced stability.

The hydraulic steering rack and 18-inch Ronal AG wheels round out the car’s features, ensuring both precision handling and performance at top speeds.

The Temerario GT3's Debut

While the Temerario GT3 is still in development, Lamborghini is working toward a big racing debut. We won’t see this powerhouse on the track until the 12 Hours of Sebring in March 2026, but fans are already eagerly awaiting its first race.
