In 2026, the cost of renting a car in Dubai starts at around AED 45 a day for a small economy car and climbs past AED 2,000 a day for a supercar — but the daily sticker price is only part of the story. Whether renting actually works out cheap depends on how long you rent for, the car you choose, and the extras most guides skip: the deposit, Salik tolls, fuel and delivery. This guide breaks down real 2026 prices from cars listed on Ride.Rent, then adds up what a month behind the wheel genuinely costs.
Across the 600-plus cars listed in Dubai on Ride.Rent, daily rates currently run from roughly AED 45 to AED 3,900, depending on the vehicle. Here is how the typical daily price breaks down by category:

Economy and mid-size sedans are where most renters land, and that is where Dubai is genuinely affordable. The headline supercar prices grab attention, but they make up a small slice of what people actually book.
Rental length changes the price more than anything else — but not always in the direction you would expect. Take a real listing: a 2024 Hyundai Elantra on Ride.Rent (a popular automatic sedan) is priced at:
· AED 109 per day, with 175 km included per day
· AED 949 per week, with 1,050 km included per week
· AED 2,199 per month, with 5,000 km included per month
Do the maths and something useful falls out. Seven separate daily rentals would cost AED 763 — actually less than the AED 949 weekly rate on this car. That is a reminder to compare the total, not assume a longer booking is automatically cheaper. The monthly rate, though, is a clear win: AED 2,199 works out to about AED 73 a day, roughly a third less than the daily price. For residents and anyone staying more than three weeks, a monthly car rental in Dubai is almost always the cheapest way to rent.
Watch the mileage cap, too. This car allows 175 km a day, 1,050 km a week or 5,000 km a month, with extra-kilometre charges beyond that. If you are planning long desert drives or trips to other emirates, check the cap before you book.
The rental rate is rarely the only thing you pay. Budget for these before you book:
· Security deposit. Most economy cars hold a refundable deposit of around AED 1,000, blocked on your card and released after you return the car. Some listings are zero-deposit — worth filtering for if cash flow matters.
· Insurance (CDW). Basic collision damage waiver is usually included, but it carries an excess — the amount you pay towards any accident. Lowering that excess costs a little extra.
· Salik tolls. Dubai's toll gates charge AED 6 during peak hours (6–10 AM and 4–8 PM on weekdays) and AED 4 off-peak, with free passage from 1–6 AM and a flat AED 4 on Sundays, according to Salik. There are ten gates across the city, and a central trip can cross three or four. Rental companies pay tolls through their own Salik account and bill you, often with a small admin fee per crossing.
· Fuel. You pay for petrol and normally return the car at the same fuel level. Special 95 — the grade most sedans use — is AED 3.83 a litre in June 2026, per the UAE Fuel Price Committee, so a 50-litre tank costs about AED 190 to fill.
· Delivery. On Ride.Rent, spot delivery across Dubai is free with many suppliers, so you may not pay a pickup fee at all — but confirm it on the listing.
Say you rent that AED 2,199-a-month Elantra and drive a normal resident pattern: commuting plus weekend errands, around 1,500 km in the month, crossing two Salik gates on workdays. Here is the realistic all-in cost:
|
Item |
Estimated monthly cost |
|
Car rental (Hyundai Elantra) |
AED 2,199 |
|
Salik (≈2 gates × AED 4 × 22 days) |
≈ AED 176 |
|
Fuel (≈1,500 km on Special 95) |
≈ AED 430 |
|
Delivery |
Free (spot delivery) |
|
Total (excludes refundable deposit) |
≈ AED 2,805 |
You would also block the AED 1,000 deposit, returned at the end of the rental. Drive less or off-peak and the total drops; cross more gates at peak times and it rises. Either way, the rental rate is most of the cost, and the extras add a few hundred dirhams — not the doubling some travellers fear.
· Book monthly if you can. As shown, monthly rates can be a third cheaper per day than daily.
· Compare the total, not the daily rate. Weekly is not always cheaper than seven days booked individually, so check both.
· Filter for zero-deposit cars if you would rather not block AED 1,000 on your card.
· Drive off-peak to pay AED 4 instead of AED 6 at Salik gates, and use toll-free roads where practical.
· Rent in summer. Demand and prices dip in the hot months, so June to September is often the cheapest time to rent.
· Stick to the right car. An economy sedan covers almost everything in the city; you rarely need SUV or luxury rates for daily Dubai driving.
